United Way of the Flint Hills: Living United!

Community Investment Allocation
Annually, the United of the Flint Hills invests nearly $450,000 in 37 programs at 24 organizations in an eight county area. Agencies applying for program funding must fit within one of the following funding areas:

· Helping children and youth succeed
· Strengthening and supporting families
· Promoting self-sufficiency
· Building vital and safe neighborhoods
· Supporting vulnerable and aging populations

• Day of Caring
In 2010, the United Way Day of Caring will return to Emporia!  We invite you to join us for this powerful day
of service in the fall when hundreds of volunteers from local companies and organizations make a difference
at local agencies and schools, and in the lives of students and clients by completing much-needed projects.
 
• Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program
United Way of the Flint Hills is the local administrator of the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program,
which brings $25,000 of federal funds into the community. This year, funds were distributed to: Lyon County
Restricted Emergency Fund,  East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation,  SOS, Inc., and
Emporia Rescue Mission.
